Wine Tasting Tour
An experience that engages the sense of sight, taste, hearing and even touch, while creating heartful memories.
Tour description:
Starting at 2.00 pm, pick-up at the accommodation, head to Paderne village where we visit the castle (Castelo de Paderne), believed to be one of the original castles present on the shield of the Portuguese national flag. The castle was a Moorish construction built on the remains of a Roman fortified outpost that was taken during the “Reconquista period” of the Portuguese nationhood;
Continuing the tour you’ll visit a traditional windmill with full explanations about it. According to historical reports, it seems that the romans, during their occupation of the region, they were the first people to create vineyards in the Algarve in order to produce exquisite wines of this amazing sun kissed territory on the Atlantic Ocean.
The tour proceeds to a local producer of prized wines, where the guests will enjoy a guided walking tour of the winery and of the technical facilities, followed by the experience of tasting the wines produced in the estate and served with some tapas (Portuguese style snacks) to clear the palate. A full explanation of the experience is included.
Combining its unique location, of a Mediterranean and Atlantic influence, protected by the mountain range and benefiting from over 3000 hours of sun a year, the Algarve can be seen as one of the wine regions with the highest growth potential.
